Is the SiS 648 chipset any good cause I was thinking of going with an ASUS P4S8X mobo with that chip so I can get AGP 8X for my video card? If the SiS chips are good should I get the 648 or the 655HMAC?

AFAIK, SiS has been reedeming itself with its latest chipsets for the P4. But, wait till you hear more opinions about it, as all the praises I have heard have been for the 645 chipset.

I have used the SIS chipset with both P4 and AMD and found the P4 version to be very fast.
I am not big on Gigabyte myself, I use Abit and Soltek boards myself for builds. If you want a good overview, just type Gigabyte in the search box at the top portion of this page and read. |

Between ASUS and Gigabyte, I'd take an ASUS anytime.
