Advice on card readers needed

Hi all,

I currently have a SanDisk USB card reader for Smart Media. Problem is that they don't support XP for this driver and I've only had it a little over a year. Could anyone recommend a brand of card reader that supports SmartMedia and will not discontinue support so quickly.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

that's a bit surprising. my card reader
doesn't need a driver for XP. I use
a dazzle 6 in 1 and it works great.
Not sure if it reads smart media though.

you do not need to install any drivers for that reader in xp

xp has all that stuff built in

I have 5 differant readers on mine and did not install anything

I used this driver with Windows 98 SE and never had a problem. When I upgraded to XP Home I get the "found new hardware" window when I plug into USB. Then I get the "cannot install this hardware" window.

I've gone to the SanDisk site and they say they don't fully support the device (SDDR9) for XP. They give a workaround you can try, but when doing this the reader doesn't work like it did in 98 SE. You get error messages and such every time you plug it in before it finally works. I have decided to just replace it, but don't want another SanDisk.

Thanks oem_guy, I'll see if I can get ahold of the 6 in one tomorrow. Looks like SanDisk also has a 6 in 1 that has drivers in XP, but unless it's quite a bit cheaper I will give the Dazzle a try.
