Need help on choice for PSU
I would like to get a new PSU for my generic case. I am going to be giving it to my friend cause he doesnt have a pc. I don't want to give him a noisy pc. plus i dont like the way the PSU is acting up lately. I can hear it get louder everytime i start up and app or anything the uses the cpu. I am looking for a really good PSU that is between 300 to 350 watts and has low noise. Thanks.

For a good supply check out Antec, Enermax, Enlight or Sparkle. The last two will be cheaper in price but are still good. If you're looking for quiet, there is a brand (I think its Enermax...not sure) that has one called the "whisper" and its supposed to be really quiet.

Sparkle Power PSU's are good, but they tend to be on the noisy side.
The newer Antec PSU's seem to run really quietly. I can hardly hear mine. Yes, Enermax Whisper series PSU's are very quiet. Cricket

I agree with Cricket, the newer Antec PSU's are nice and quiet.

read the reviews, it usually comments on the noise level.

I decided on getting a Enermax Whisper model. I need to know what model to get for the 350 watts. They have at least 4 different models. Thanks.

Is the "Whisper" name actually on the supplies or is it just an implied nickname they got? Cuz I didn't see the name "Whisper" on any of the ones at Newegg, but of the ones they have, this one seemed to have the most reviews of how quiet it is. The others are basically the same supply, just with added features like mobo monitoring for sleep mode and stuff. CLICK HERE

I think they're all called "Whisper" now.
