Western Digital Hard Drive For Gateway not fitting?

Hi. I got a Western Digital Hard Drive for my Gateway Performance 800. A friend installed it, but said only one of the screw holes would line up. He said that should be okay.
First of all, is that okay? Secondly, why is that? I would think that both would be standard? I would like to get a third hard drive to add 30 gig, 80 gig, 120 gig, and there is a Western Digital available if I know it'll work.

Thanks.

Hard drives have totally standard mounting centers - your friend needs to try different orientations. No, only one screw is not okay - 4 is preferred, 3 is acceptable, 2 is ok in a pinch, but 1 is not acceptable unless you can grab the drive, try to move it, and it doesn't budge.

Thanks. I sure didn't like the sound of it when he told me. He said he'd even put some in before without any screws. I am going to have someone else put in this new one and see if they can fix the old one too.

Thanks
