monitor drivers ?

i have a viewsonic a90 monitor and i went to there web site and downloaded the latest drivers for this monitor. Well my question is does this interfere with my graphics card (ati 9000 pro) ? I'm a little confused on drivers so i want to make sure I'm getting the best picture i can with my graphics card,i know this isn't a very good card but it has to do for now.

The file you downloaded was most likely an .inf file (or an executable that will expand into a bunch of .inf files for every monitor available from the company)...it's not really a "driver", it's more like a message for the video card telling it what the monitor is capable of (refresh rate, resolution, etc...)...the video card then lists all the settings available. The file itself doesn't improve the image quality of the monitor.
