I’m in the market for a laser printer. Mine just died out on me.
I was reading past posts and most people said that the HP made good laser printers. Is this still the general opinion or has it changed? Is there any color laser printer for under $1000 USD that you guys would recommend if not I would like the opinions on a B/W laser printer. Thanks.

The new HP 2500L color laser is $1000.
Any of the HP B/W lasers should be good - the 1200 starts at under $400 and it's a little workhorse. |

Thanks GLC
It prints four pages per minute…. Is that good for a color laser printer? Is the average cost for a sheet printed in color the same as one in black and white? |

The color drums are usually seperate, so whenever a color runs out, you can just replace that color cartrage.

this is out of you price range but we just got an HP4600 dn here at work, color, four cartridges (700 bucks for all four) the BW gets 8000 pages and the color 7000 pages each (assuming 5% coverage) and it is 2500. the basic without the duplex (d) and network(n) is 2000, but it prints 17 ppm and the images are great.
I beleive as you head down in price you will see the biggest changes in the print speed and features such as duplex |

Color is always more expensive than B&W but color lasers are cheaper to run than inkjets for 2 reasons - toner is cheaper per page than ink cartridges, and you can use plain paper with good results.
The 2500L is up to 16ppm B&W, 4ppm color - that's faster than consumer grade inkjets, and it has 64mb ram so Windows won't sit there and spool a job all day on you like with inkjets that have no ram or only 4mb. |
