good links for researching P1 chips?
Who has a link or two for me. Ive got a pair of P1 processors here. Id like to find out everything I can about them.

Im looking for a P54CT 166 overdrive processor to replace a P54C. Im also trying to see if that is really the only upgrade option I have. The manual for the computer says it is.

How about you give us the motherboard or computer model? The manual it came with is gonna be very outdated.

How exactly can I find out the motherboard model? This is the TriGem Gem Master 3560. When I wouldnt pay the guy for the entire system, I took the tower back to him. If you remember, he wanted $100 for it. He left it in my office for three weeks refusing to take it home. He finally said he would like to keep the keyboard and monitor, but throw the tower in the dumpster if I didnt want it. Ive added a faster cdrom, and more memory. Im also debating switching the OS to Win 95 as well. The processor is jumpered to 166 MHZ. I would like to help it as much as possible. Im more or less using this as education as its not worth much.

Look closely at the motherboard - what jumpers DO you have? If you don't have a voltage jumper that can be set to 2.8, you are limited to a non-MMX P1, which tops out at 200 MHz, and that's only if you have a x3 multiplier jumper. The only way to go faster in this case is with an overdrive that has its own voltage regulator.

The Tigem website, although they dont go into great detail does tell me Im limited to non mmx.
The bottom of the case lists the jumper settings. They dont label them as voltages or X's, they are 100MHZ, 125MHZ, 133MHZ, etc. Last edited by mountaineer; 03-22-2003 at 08:57 PM. |

i was on THG the other day and found a history of processors from the first intel to present day
