scanner Acer 640P

Iam using Windows 2k Pro with SP3 and Iam not able to istall properly the driver (mirascanv3424p.exe downloaded from www.acercm-eu. com) for this scanner (parallel port, EPP mode). Of course I handle the setup according their recommendations, but this are a little bit confusing for me. Their guide doesnt conform with the behavior of my OS. The installation no doubth will finish without any error messeages, but at least the installed Twain compatible driver Mira Scan doesnt allow me to do more then one job by one (the Add Job button is inactive, and also more buttons in the Tool bar). Do you have somebody an idea? The scanner works on a another PC (with W98SE) OK. During the driver installation I have switched off the antivirus programm and also the Norton system Doctor. My OS seams to be stabile, no any BSOD noticed.

Windows 2000 support for the older Acer scanners is very poor. I have a customer with an Acer 1240UT and we had to get a beta driver from BenQ to get it working in Win2K.

Thanks for your answer. But it looks not hopeful. Propably I will have to install on my PC even an another OS (maybe W98SE) or to buy a newer scanner.
