Yamaha CD Burner that Can Burn Pics To CDs
Do you need special CD's to use that feature on Yamaha burners. Do you need special Yamaha CD's. I am not sure what the feature is called, but it has the "@" symbol in it.

No, it is a feture where you can, instead of using paper labels, the burner can burn labels directly to the disk.

The only two that are listed on their site as "very good" are
Mitsumi 48x 700MB/80min and Princo 24x 700MB/80min http://www.yamaha.ca/computer/support/faq/disc104.html |

Any disk will work, but you have to realise that in order to make a picture you sacrifice using that disk area for data. If you burned 30 minutes of music on a 80 minute disk then you would only be able to use the ring of the disk around the actual music for the picture. So for placing a full cd picture on the disk, that would be just about useless because you woulden't be able to put any information on it. To reiterate you should be able to use any disk.

Oh, I didn't realize that, I thought you could burd a full disk, and still put a picture on it....apparently not.

Its a gimmic feature, most people would probably not really use once they got the drive, but if you could put a company logo or something similar in a small ring around the outer edge.

it is a BS feature but you have to admit it does seem pretty neat... But granted I wouldnt do it unless I had the extra space and I knew I wouldnt add anything else to the CD...

It will only burn an image to the unused space at the outside of the CD, and it wil close (finalize) the CD so nothing more can be burned to it, no further sessions.

2 different definitions of "burning pics" here - the Yamaha has this feature to put a physical image on the CD like a label. Lite-Ons don't do this.

Hi Doobie,
I didn't understand the original question, so I was trying to figure out what icallmedan was trying to do. The pics he is wanting to burn is on the Data side of the CD, not on the lable side. Which, as glc already clariified, can only be done with the Yamaha. TwoRails |

Here is what it looks like
http://www.smartcomputing.com/images...e/00689528.jpg Here is what it is. http://www.smartcomputing.com/editor...%2F24h09%2Easp I like the comments by Marty Sems about how this technology could be improved, I think that Yamaha should release a disk with a two recording surfaces, one for information, the other for your label. Information from the horses mouth, so to speak. http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/...iscta2_01.asp# Last edited by Trent Steel; 03-23-2003 at 05:24 PM. |
