Everythings Pink

Everything my printer was printing became pink. I was printing something one day and the blue just slowly faded away. I figured it was just my ink cartrige and went and got a new one. I installed it and printed a few things to get the ink to run through the lines but everything is still pink and the new cartrige didn't help. Now I really hate printers. I just got a printer that when you tell it to print it only prints the first page and you have to shut everything down and then turn everything back on to get it to print every subsequent page. I have 2 printers on the fritz and just wish they would work. Anyone got any ideas? The pink one is a hewlet packard deskjet 722 and the one pager is a brother laser printer.

After you installed the new color cartridge did you have the printer clean/align it? If not check the printer manual on how to do it.

How pink? Is it purely pink or does it just have a pink tint in addition to the other colors?

You may want to try like RenegadeKing suggested aligning the print cartridges or cleaning them using the software that I hope the printer came with. I can't really think of any other reason why it would start printing everything pink...

How old is the printer?

Maybe it is still your cartridge. I remember one time mine did that, so I went to get a new cartridge installed it and it was still pink, so I went and traded that one for a different one and it worked.

Well I printed test sheets and aligned it and its only printing the black and the pink. No yellow and no blue. I went out to hewlet packards web site and they say if replaceing the cartrige didn't help then it is probly broke

I wonder if the contacts that send the signal to the print cartridge could be cleaned?

Does the printer software have a PRIME utility? You may have ran it so dry it needs priming.

Yes, the contacts can be cleaned. They are a series of pins, I use a Q-tip soaked in alcohol. There may be other issues such as a bad carriage ribbon cable, but a thorough cleaning sure won't hurt before you give up and toss the printer.
