Good day to all. Here is my problem. I have a Lexmark X73 All in One USB. The printer portion works great. The scanner portion doesn't. When the latest XP drivers have been installed, I can normally scan one photo, then for another scan, the light comes on, travels a very, very short distance, then stops and hangs. I have to use Ctrl-Alt and Del to get rid of the scanning software. Then, after a few minutes, I get the Driver_Left_Locked_Pages_In-Progress error message. I have been on the phone with Lexmark and they will be replacing my scanner. This will be the third but I doubt very mch it is their machine which is the issue. Now, to further all of this, I installed another scanner, a Canoscan N340P on the parallel port and it does the same thing???? It seems I have something in my computer preventing scanners to operate. These are my specs:
AMD Athlon 1600+ 512M SDRAM Windows XP SP1 ATI Radeon 7500 64M Vid USB Mouse Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the scanners XP compatable? I have problems with my HP scanner. I can get it to work with XP, but I get a lot of unsupported messages and errors. It works fine with my WIN98 PC.

Yes they are or were. The Lexmark worked fine for a few months and the Canon was used by my son who has also Windows XP Pro.

I can also add that when I unplug the Lexmark's power cord and reconnect it, the scanner initializes and is recognized by XP. I can then attempt to scan, but it goes back to the symptoms of the first post. I am on the edge of a reformat, but I hate doing that as I always end up loosing data that I forgot to backup.

Just reformatted and installed Windows XP SP1. Still have the same problem.
I solved the problem. Turns out my ADSL internal modem was causing a conflict. As a result, I removed all of my cards and shuffled them about and now all is well. Hope this can help others in the future. Last edited by danny; 03-23-2003 at 08:26 PM. |
