Question Faxing

Does one have to have a seperate phone # dedicated for faxing or is it possible to use the same phone line for both phone and fax?

This is using an HP D135 AIO unit.

Thanks.

You can use the same phone line. If you're going to use it frequently, you may want to think about getting another line, though. I only fax once in a while on the single line in my house.

Like Force_Flow, I use one line, but I don't receive or send many faxes, just occasionally.

The HP software asks you whether you use the same or different line when you set it up.

That's what I thought I remembered when I set mine up. A friend wants to get one and asked though.

How does one know if the incoming call is a fax or not?

All I can find is the thing is compatible with answering machines and it supports distinctive ring. I don't know if it has a voice/fax autosensing switch in it.
