Scanner With Blue Stripe On Left Side Of Scanned Page

I have a Memorex 6143U scanner manufactured by Visioneer and sold by Staples. When I scan a page using Photo Suite III, the scanned page has a one inch blue stripe on the left side of the page. This blue stripe is also printed as well. Any suggestions on what might have happened? WolfpackRon

Is that maybe a trial version of Photo Suite? Have you tried a different imaging program that has TWAIN capabilities? Irfanview is a free download, give that a try, the builtin Imaging program in Windows is TWAIN compatible too.

How thick is the stripe? I was getting a couple of faint, opaque stripes on my scanned images. Turned out to be dust on the bulb. I took off the glass and blew gently on the scanner bulb. Cleared it right up.

Sorry. I re-read your post and you already said the stripe is 1 inch wide. That's either one giant piece of dust, or glc is right and it's a software problem. Does it show up when you use the software to preview the image?

Yes, it does show up when I scan the page.

This is an older scanner that I moved from my old computer to my new computer. One possibility is that I hooked up the wrong power supply from another device by mistake. It works OK except for the 1" blue stripe on the side of the page. Did I zap a board or something else? WolfpackRon.

It sounds like to me that something's wrong with the bulb. If it's several years old now, you may want to consider getting a new one. You can get some cheap ones for about $30.
