problem with my digi cam

i have a nikon coolpix775 on an XP pro machine with SP1. when i plug it into the USB port, first time nothing happens, windows doesnt recognize it. second time i plug it in, windows recognizes the camera, lets me see its contents, but when i try copying pics to the HD or deleting off the camera i get this msg:

"windows-delayed write failed
windows was unable to save all the data for the file GL the data has been lost. this error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. please try to save this file elsewhere.".

works like that all the time. 1 st time, nothing, 2nd time 50% working, 3rd time fine.

this worked perfectly on my old dell machine, i thought that SP1 would fix this error since i thought it had to do with the USB. any ideas?

Have you tried the other USB port or a new cable?? Although I admit it sounds software related especially if it's that consistent in the way it acts, but I like to eliminate the simple things first..

Try looking for motherboard updates. My motherboard had a similar problem.

Have you considered using a card reader instead of plugging the whole camera in?
