ZIP 100 not formated error
I`m having a problem with data transfer between a W98 machine and W-XP using an Iomega ZIP 100 disk.
Basically, when the disk is formatted on the XP machine, which I assume but am not certain is NTFS (I`ll find out), it works but when the disk is brought home and popped into the 98 machine it reads , "disk not formatted". We formatted the disk on the 98 machine, saved a file to it, (5 meg Power Point) and it was tried on the XP machine and read not formatted. I don`t have access to the XP machine because it is at the local university. In a nutshell, the disk works perfectly on each machine as long as the disk is formatted on that machine but shows not formatted when placed in the other machine, we`ve tried different disks with the same result. On this end, (W98), I`ve downloaded the latest driver and diagnostics pass. Any thoughts\ideas are appreciated. |

When you format the disk, are you given an option as to what file system you want to format in? I haven't used a Zip disk in a long time so I can't remember how it's done.

I appreciate the replies.
It seems the ZIP disk had 2 sets of jumper settings apparently pertaining to the firmware version. I tried the alternative slave setting and it seems to be working well now. |
