ATTN: K7S5A USers: Strange ECS K7S5A question.....

I need to upgrade a ECS K7S5A system's video card, and I have a strange problem: the IDE connectors on the mainboard are placed in such a manner that a long video card will not fit when the IDE cables are plugged in. Right now I'm using an MSI GeForce4 MX440, and I tried to put in my old PNY GeForce3, but it's too long! Therefore, I want to know: what video cards do you K7S5A owners use, so I can be sure that I buy a card that will fit! As a last resort, I thought of getting a PCI ATA card, and using that instead of the built-in IDE in order to free up the space.

Smash the IDE cables down so that the video card will sit properly in the AGP slot.

No good. The connectors themselves are in the way. Come to think of it, I don't exactly remember the particulars, but I know that I couldn't get the G3 to fit, no matter what I did.

The sockets themselves are that tall? Very poor design.

Okay, I took a look at that motherboard and the IDE sockets aren't in line with the AGP slot...so, is it something on the video cards that is hitting the IDE sockets (like tall capacitors)?

I'll try swapping the MX with a G4 Ti 4200 tonight, and see if it fits. If not, I'll let you know the details on why.

Here's a picture. It's not readily evident from the picture, but the IDE connector blocks any card longer then the one installed.

I have a Radeon 7200 on my K7S5A that fits just fine. Of course that card is no longer available and is probably a step down from the existing card anyway.

I'm using a GeForce 2 MX400 in one of my builds with that board. I don't know if you need a top-notch video card or not, but I can say that the GF2 fits fine in the system.
