CD compatibility

Have laptop with CDRW but the only dirve that can read what it writes, is itself. Want to share data, MPEG, MP3 files with others who only have older CDROM capability. Also want to make custom CD's for audio and video devices that read CD-R CD-RW.

Do not know if it is hardware, software, media, procedure or cockpit errors. Would appreciate some quidance. Any good website suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to PcMech.

What software are you using and are you finalizing the disk before you try it on other CDs?

Like Kissfan, the first thing that comes to mind is: Are you finalizing the disk? It won't be read in another machine if not.

What type of discs are you using - CD-RW or CD-R?

Most CD-Roms will read the data when it is burned to CD-R discs with Roxio or Nero burning software.
