2 on each port, total 4

port one master and a slace

port two master and a slave

but you would not want to do that because you will need one slot to be used for a cd-rom drive

If you need more controllers, you could always get a PCI IDE card.

Also, many motherboards that have onboard RAID will allow you use the two RAID channels as ordinary ATA channels. So you could effectively have eight devices.

ah, ok , last time i asked, they caused conflicts with each other, we were working on ancient PCs though
