2 on each port, total 4
port one master and a slace port two master and a slave but you would not want to do that because you will need one slot to be used for a cd-rom drive |

If you need more controllers, you could always get a PCI IDE card.

Also, many motherboards that have onboard RAID will allow you use the two RAID channels as ordinary ATA channels. So you could effectively have eight devices.
