cd rom problem

hi guys,
i have this problem since i built this PC (see sig)....the problem is, win xp pro won't dedect my creative drive....i have to go to the device manager and scan for it everytime.....

when i restart, the drive is gone again....and i have to detect it again...and this gones on until now....

bios detects my drive....the only problem that i can "indirectly" solve this is to leave a cd in the drive.....when it boots up, bios will read the drive as i set it to boot from cd...

this neva happen when i was using win98 se.....

any suggestion?

This is a shot in the dark, but the only time I have seen that happen is from the power supply going bad, or one of the molex leads from the power supply was bad, so maybe try checking your cables and changing to another power supply molex plug, if you dont have any more free ones you could try switching with your hard drive.

40 wire or 80 wire cable?

Verify proper jumpering - 80 wire should be cable select, 40 wire uses master/slave.

Try a different cable.

Send a message via Yahoo to Iman74
Also, try another cd-rom to see if it's the drive itself.
