Hi, I'm planning a new build and I want to avoid my normal problem of getting a crappy case. I'm trying to find a case for roughly 100$ with these specs:
10+ Bay mid-tower aluminum case black, silver or blue colour 4+ case fans w/ a top blowhole large acrylic side window If anyone can help me find a case similar to the one listed that would be great. The only cases like this that I've found are Lian-Li cases, and they are higher quality than I can afford. |

I really like Antec cases. Good quality and also good power supplies, along with nice features. Best Buy usually has a model or two in stock. Also, check out the cases at www.newegg.com

case shopping is in my opinion the most fun step. I would look EVERYWHERE (ebay, google, small shops, best buy) until i found the best case for my money. Remember that you will be dealing with it all the time and looking at it and having others look at it. just be patient, youll find what your looking for.

How can you all stand the door on the front of all the Antec cases?

All Antec's don't have a door on the front. I like the SX630II and 635II of which neither has a front door.

chieftech and antec cases are designed for easy, practical installation and use, some of the stuff in my case from chieftech turned out to be great mounting innovations that I have never seen before. I love em

My current (and fairly recent) three Antec cases don't have doors, but it does seem like the majority of newer cases do have doors.

*SIGH*
It's always too good to be true. Well, I guess my best option is to either pay a little extra for a chieftec, or buy a plain black case from newegg and install a window myself. I already found one that looks promising. http://www.newegg.com (atx case, impression) |

Too expensive. No real reason to get one. The cheapest model costs $123 at newegg without a powersupply. It looks exactly like a chenming xpider, but it has a few "fancy gizmos." Personally, I'd rather mod a cheap case than buy a pre-modded xaser. Well at least that's my opinion since I don't have enough money to buy one.
Personally I don't like the enermax cases. They are a little more expensive and the models that include a power supply have cheap ones. As far as the cases themselves, they don't have very good air intake. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. Last edited by NSS; 04-27-2003 at 12:16 AM. |

If you don't really need 10 bays, it's hard to beat an Enlight case - they are extremely plain looking and mod very nicely. I know - they aren't aluminum, and only come in beige and black. Why do you need all those fans and blowholes? You put a quiet cooler on a video card and you will negate its benefits with a bunch of noisy case fans.

NSS, I didn't know that Enermax power supplies were "cheap". Didn't they start out as a high quality powersupply manufacterer? And as far as air flow goes, having an intake on the front and a number of choices including top, side, and rear for exhaust seems to me a "no lose" setup. The case comes with an exhaust fan already mounted on the side.
PS, the powersupply is also mounted sideways to prevent any obstruction of air to the HSF. And at a price below a hundred bucks ain't too shabby neither. |

Enermax powersupplies are not cheap. I'd love to have an enermax power supply but the medium to low price enermax cases come with cheap, generic power supplies.
I've read that enermax cases have poor air intake. By that I mean that the front intake doesn't have adequate ventilation in the front bezel. PS, what model do you have? |

NSS, if you look at the link i gave, it has some Enermax cases that have Enermax PS's in them already. Does it mean that those are elcheapo's too? i would like to know as I bought one of the Enermax cases and it has an Enermax PS in it and I don't want to risk a new build with all new parts in it. I have the cs-003-a102usb.

We were talking about different cases. Yours has a different front bezel that allows more airflow and it comes with an enermax power supply. Unfortunately though, I need a black case and there is nothing like the one you have in black.

Bummer, but for the price you could have paint it or pay someone to paint it. Well, good luck in your search.

Just because it's an Enermax case doesn't mean it has an Enermax power supply. Same goes for Enlight. This is why - cases come over from China on the boat 2 ways - with and without power supplies. Some importers order them without power supplies and throw in whatever they want, that's why you can see a quality case with a junk power supply. Same actually goes for fans - Enlight installs Sunon ball bearing fans at the factory, but I've seen Enlight cases with no name sleeve bearing fans - they were installed by the importer.

If I was to get a case like that there would be NO way in hell I'd think about cutting/painting the thing. I guess with a case like that you don't have to cut/paint. Can't resist that modding action on any case. Buy a $40 case then sure, cut/paint away but a case costing more than ??? $130 would not be cool. Of course unless one is a great modder? (is that a word?) Cases are like chicks; some are dog ugly and some are stunning. Today I fell in love with this stunning acrylic case that I saw at compUSA. When I get enough case she's MINE! When will the word "modding" be put in the Webster's Dictionary? Last edited by johnnybatters12; 04-28-2003 at 07:31 PM. |

I was thinking about getting an acrylic case, but they don't shield against EMR.

Ok, what is that EMR? Emit magnetic radiation? Because I've seen NOTICE warnings while looking at those cases. And why doesn't the case shield against it? |

Electro Magnetic Radiation. I'm not sure why acrylic cases don't shield against it. I just know that most cases do, but acylic cases don't.
