Question Have A7N8x Deluxe - Need Memory - Advice Appreciated

Hi all. I need some advice on what is the best memory to buy for the Asus A7N8X Deluxe MOBO. I know there are mixed reviews but I have it and i'm gonna go with it.

For those of you who have had success with it I was wondering what kind of memory you have and if it's 1 stick or 2.

I read some articles where you can survive on 1 but 2 is recommended.

I'm looking for either 256mb in the range of $40-60 or
512mb in the range of $60 - $80.

Please advise and comment on the build if you so choose.

Parts I have and Parts on Order:
MB NFORCE2 A7N8X DELUXE ASUS RTL
HD 80GB|WD 7200RPM 8MB WD800JB
CDRW 52x24x52|LITE ON LTR52246 BLK
VGA ASUS|V9280TD GF4 Ti4200 8X 128M
CPU AMD|2500/333 ATHLON XP BARTON R
MNTR NEC|17" CRT FE770-BK RTL
CD MS|WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION SR1
LOGITECH Z-640
CASE ANTEC LANBOY (DON'T HAVE YET THINKING OF GETTING THIS)

Check out the review on the PC-Mech homepage for Corsair TWINX Matched DDR. It is tested on an Asus A7N8X mainboard for dual channel.

Corsair and Crucial

The corsair twinx is expensive and I heard the Crucial didn't work well with this mobo. I also heard that Kingston didn't work.

Check out the bottom of this page:

I have Samsung chipped 3200 in 256x2 in this k7n2. It runs at 5222 all day. Even at 333. Ok even at 400. Not too shabby for DIT stuff.

Corsair memory

Ok I just ordered two sticks of CORSAIR MEMORY 512MB PC2700 VALUE SELECT. DDR RAM - OEM

It came out to $68 per stick.

Thanks for all the advice. I will let you know how it goes. If it doesn't work you all can tell me I told you so.

Thanks again.

I have two sticks of Crucial 512mb PC2100 DDR running dual channel on my A7N8X. 1 stick in the first slot and one in the third. I love it. Everything has worked very well for me thus far.

As far as where to buy it, I would go to www.newegg.com as they seem to have it cheaper than anyone else that I have found lately. OEM RAM doesn't make a difference, except for the fancy box.

Good luck!

I'm running the same RAM and currently have my sights set on PC3200. Don't suppose you could afford THAT?

Yep, I'm running 768MB PC2100 on AGGRESSIVE Bios setting and it kicks in the Dual Memory pipeline.

Go with 2 sticks. I got 1 GB of memory and I would not run any less on the motherboard that we both have. You will be some better performance. I run 1 stick in the 1st slot and the other in the 3rd.
