I would like to say thanks to everyone that's helped me over the past couple weeks! My last part came this morning and my computer is working!!! Woo Hoo!!! It was pretty tough to push that power button for the first time, but there wasn't any explosions, fires, or clouds of smoke!
I've spent the day installing drivers and programs, trying to get rid of all the 'helpful' features in Windows XP, and transfering files. I hate winXP. I miss 98.... ![]() Thanks again! |

You will love XP after using it for a day or two, just a different interface.
Congtars on the new build. |

My guess is that in few days you would not go back to WIN98 if it was free. The NT kernel OS's are so much more stable. That and the restore function in XP if you do make a mistake.

Those alone are the two reasons I would never put any version of 9x on my machine.

There is an option in XP to make it look like win98. Windows classic look.

Thanks Everybody! After a small conflict between my Radeon and my Intel chipset, I'm running smootly!
I've overclocked the 2.67 P4 to 3ghz! It seems to be running great! My 3DMark2001 SE Score is: 15,582 |

I think you will enjoy Windows XP after a little while. I remember when I switched from 98 to ME... I was so mad I swore I would never buy another OS besides 98. Well, I bought a new laptop and found it had many more features and most of all, it seemed much more stable. The one thing I do not like about XP is when you hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE when something freezes, and you hit "end program", it feels a lot like I have less direct control of immediately closing the program... It seems to take a little while for XP to close it. I dont really know how to explain it
. Anyways, I am off track, Congrats on your first PC. I am just finishing up mine now, expect a post soon .

Congrats!
It always feels great when it powers up for the first time. I hope you get good wear out of the system! P.S. To those slamming Win 9.x I remind that Win ME too had the System Restore function. |

Yeah, I'm getting more used to XP. I've got it on the Windows Classic Theme, Classic Windows (ex. My computer, old icons), and fixed the start menu so it's only 1 column.
People say it's more stable then 98, but I never had problems with 98 crashing on my old computer. |

You know whats bothering me....Win98 adds new icons to the 'notification area' (thats what WinXP calls it) (The icons by the clock) on the right side, right by the clock. WinXP, however, adds new icons on the left side. It bothers me! I always look on the right edge to see if I have new mail.....but XP sticks the little envelope on the left side.....
