I need some help here ...
I recently upgraded alot of stuff on my computer I *had* a 800 mhz athlon Biostar M7vkb Mobo Radeon 8500 LE Soundblaster 16 pci 320 mb ram Samsung 20 GB 5400 I upgraded to 1100 mhz athlon (same mobo) (same gfx card) Soundblaster Live 5.1 Digi (same ram) Western Digital 60 GB 7200 and I wanna know if I decide to put the old hard drive back in for extra room will it cause any problems ? cause my new HD has xp on it and so does my old drive can I just install the old as a slave and partition it? or will windows go wacky ? or will the boot give me a selection of which drive to boot from or os rather. The reason I am asking is because I wanna put my old drive and delete everything on there and install win 98 on it (and yes I know windows xp give me the opt of choosing which os to boot off of ...but will installing the old drive which has xp conflict with my new one which also has xp? Ahhh.....and so I rest my weary fingers....ouch! |

If you put it in jumpered as slave and your 60 gig is master, then it will boot off of your 60 gig hdd. From XP you can erase everything on it or do whatever you want to it.

However, if you want to dual boot 98 and XP, 98 needs to be installed first to do it right.
Just installing the drive as is will not cause any problems. Jumper both drives to Cable Select and put the black end on the new drive and the gray connector in the middle on the other drive. |
