cooling ideas

ok, now I finally have a work shop room at my home and I am ready to start experimenting with different ideas I have had over the years.

First one is to try some Blower fans in my PC case.

I was wondering, has anyone else been trying this and if so what kind of results did you get?

Hi byte,

is this the sort of thing you're thinking of?? http://www.excaliberpc.com/product_i...oducts_id=2131

I love the idea and it sure seems like it should work pretty good, but I've never used one. ... wish I would have thought of it!

Well, that's a HSF, and byte is thinking more of like car heater fans? If so, those things move alot of air! But they draw like twenty or thirty amps, so id be careful running that off of my PSU. I'll be interested to see your results!

my ideas have not panned out much.

I have discovered my case modifing isn't going smooth.

but I have corrected a few issues with heat in my case.

I got this case about 3 years ago, it was not great for venting out the heat and the power supply(I discovered is a deer) had was placed directly above the CPU and had no vents so there was a pocket of heat build up near the processor, I removed a section of the case of the Power supply and put an extra fan above the CPU blowing into the Power supply and then the power supply fan venting.

Plus I cleaned all the dust from the CPU heat sink and the video card heat sink. At least 2 years of built up.

I had also drilled out a much larger intake .

I used a whole can of Air in the case. it is very clean, replaced the CPU fan and it is running much cooler now. I didn't take temps before and after but the CPU heat sink would burn you before and now you can touch and hold it.
