IBM would really hate this...
Today, I picked up an IBM PS-350 Desktop Workstation for $15. The motherboard it came with, unfortunately, only supports a Pentium-100 CPU. Luckily I had an old Packard Bell Pentium2 LPX motherboard and a P2-400 cpu lying around collecting dust, and since both boards use riser cards, I figured it would be a perfect fit. Well, it wasn't...I ended up having to use the riser card from the IBM mobo on the Packard Bell motherboard, which actually turned out great because it works and the IBM riser card has one more PCI slot than the PB riser did. For the $15 that I paid for the IBM PS-350 I also got a 7.5GB IBM hard drive and 4x CD Burner included. Can't beat that deal. IBM would truly hate the way I bastardized one of their machines.

companies usually dont care about their legacy products. you can do whatever you like with them as long as it doens't hurt the corporate image.
if you contacted IBM about it they would probably say, "PS-350, what is that???". But congrats anyways.

I just brought a old gateway p2 out of the death-row...If you can put 5 bucks into it and slap some paint on the old case why not make a $5 Linux box right?
