Question A Quiet Case

I am looking for a quiet case. I currently have 2 computers one is an Antec ks282 and I find it very quiet. The other is a Casedge and it is as noisy as a commercial daquri blender. The Antec ks282 is discontinued model. Are there any other models that are quiet?

Almost any case can be made to run quietly...you just have to limit the amount of fans you have installed and make sure you have a power supply that is known to run quietly (the newer Antecs and Enermax power supplies operate very quietly).

You do need at least 1 case fan installed (on the back for exhaust) but it doesn't have to be a high RPM screamer. Look for fans with low RPMs and you'll reduce the amount of noise your computer makes. Panaflo, Pabst, Sunon, NMB, Vantec all make low RPM case fans that run quietly.

You do want to pick out a good case that is fairly sturdy with fairly thick sheet metal...the cheap cases come with really thin, flimsy sheet metal and I think this only helps to amplify the vibration noise from case fans.

Any of the Solution cases are very quiet also with one stealth fan.

The Sonata is a really nice case. I've done a few builds with them and I'm considering replacing my 1040BII with the Sonata. Antecs's site doesn't do justice to the finish on the case.

If you REALLY want quiet, I would get any case you want, and use Zalman products for the power supply and heatsink. Zalmans products make zero noise in silent mode, and par that with a vantec stealth fan for exhaust and you will have one quiet case.
