Dell 8200 120mm case fan
Hello,
I am noticing that the bushings on my case fan for my Dell 8200 is on it's last leg. I want to get a new one before i give it the computer away to my sister when my new computer starts to behave. The problem is that the fan is held on not by screws but by plastic hooks that hook on to the back of the case. I would like to know if these hooks come off the fan or do I got to buy one from dell. Another option is just to buy a fan and mount it on the case with screws. eventhough it doesnt have the holes is this the plausable. I would like to just get a fan with the hooks on it though |

Is the fan surrounded by like a plastic housing that snaps into the case? I'm a little confused on how the fan is actually held into place.

Have you removed the fan from the case yet? The DELL's that I've seen use a separate fan holder that the fan snaps into. The fan should just be a standard 120mm (or 92mm) fan, nothing special.

Yes it snaps on to the case my bad didnt really noticed it before. I was wondering where can I purchase a replacement for it. It connects directly to the motherboard with a 3-pin connector. I was wondering if anyone would know a good replacement fan for it.

Any standard 120mm fan should work just fine.

Sunon, Panaflo, Vantec, YST, NMB, TopMotor are all good brands to look at. See if you can find a quiet, low RPM model...no need to get a high output one for a Intel system, it'll just make the system noisy. I like using Panaflo L1A fans.
You really don't have to connect the fan to the motherboard with a 3 pin connector...if the fan comes with a 4 pin connector, just connect it to one of the power supply connectors. Or you can use a 4 to 3 pin power adapter. Cricket
