I need really quiet case fans.
Can anyone tell me who sells really quiet case fans? I'm getting tired of my jet engine antec fans.
Oh... and Would anyone know of a good quiet HSF for an XP1700? I'm building a computer for my dad and he wants it as quiet as possible. Thanks Last edited by Jeradln82; 06-05-2003 at 12:47 AM. |

Look at some Vantec Stealths. They have lower cfm, but I hear they are really quiet.

I really don't wanna pay all that money for a good water cooling system. Plus I don't like the idea of having water running so closely to my components. I just want the quietest case fans available, or maybe second to quietest.

Panaflo, Papst, and PCP&C stealth fans are known to be quiet. Also, check out The Listening Room to hear the fans. Hope that helps.

Antec Smartfans, they adjust speed dynamically to keep sound levels down. Even when gaming, I can hear my HDD over my three Smartfans. They're the quietest thing about my rig.

Vantec Stealth's are supposed to be around 20 dBA, but I have one on my HSF and I think it's much louder.

Cooler Master cp5-7jd1b, I replaced a Zalman copper flower for this HSF, much quieter than the Zalman is in normal mode. It keeps my XP2200 at about 104 and the fan on my Enermax power supply is louder. Directron has them for less than 20.00 and Newegg has similar CM models.

Just some other tips for noise control: don't get a lite-on cd drive. When you use it, it makes more noise than most normal computers. Get a seagate barracuda hard drive; they're slightly quieter than most. Also, if you have a video card in the system, get a passive cooler. I have a big*** Zalman heatsink w/o a fan on my RAdeon 9700 PRO and it does the job w/ no noise at all.
As for for other fans, I recommend zalman or coolermaster products. Also, with fans, keep in mind that the bigger they are, the slower they can go to get decent CFM. |
