Case Fan

Hey,
I was wondering if it would be better if I added extra cooling fans, to my case. Im running a 2.4 ghz p4. Also any suggestions on what kind to get.
Thanx.

I've included a pic of the inside of my case

Hi boxcarracer767, welcome to the PC Mech forums!

I currently see no case fans in there, so it would indeed be good to add one in the front and one in the back for better air flow.

Just one in the back should be fine, exhausting air. P4's run quite cool and you don't have that case packed full of components or a high end video card that impersonates a furnace. You might want to neaten up your wires and bundle them out of the path of the airflow.

I agree with glc...you really should clean up your cabling to clear up the air paths through the case first.

A fan on the back of the case for exhaust is usually enough for a P4 system.

while 1 fan will do in the back, if you have space for two, it gets even cooler

i wouldnt bother with the front fan, it did nothing for me, moved it to the back and watched case temps drop by 3 and CPU by 2, while not very significant, when overclocking, cool is most important

What would be a good fan for overclocking

You want one that moves a lot of air (high CFM rating). But fast, high output fans generate a lot of noise, so take that into consideration.

Vantec, Delta, Sunon, YST all make high output, high speed 80mm case fans.

I have a vantec pushing air out in the rear, stock Intel CPU fan. CPU temp. range is 34-42.
