CPU Temp?

I have a A7N8X ASUS Motherboard and a athlon 2100. I am just using the heatsink that came with the chip right now. What is the range of temps I should get when I check through the bios. Or, do you recommend a program to check the temp? LMK thanks for the help.

well your temps are gonna be higher if you are in windows then if you are in the BIOS so it depens if you care about knowing the tempature when windows is running.

im not sure about AMD processors but also long as it is under 60F when under full load, then dont worry.

CPU idle temps in BIOS...anything under 50 C is okay.

The temps you get will depend on ambient room temperature and your case cooling. Higher ambient room temperatures will mean temps in your case will be higher. Someone who lives in a cooler climate will have lower CPU and case temps.

If you really want to watch your temps while you're in Windows, try Motherboard Monitor.

But really, if your system is stable and not locking up or freezing all the time, you're doing good.

60'F? Lol, I'd love to have a temp like that.

60'C is usually what they run under.

I agree with Cricket if your system is stable you'll be fine.

Also, why not just use Asus Probe to check temps with? It came with the mobo.

Generally, I only check temps the first few day after a build, just to make sure things are OK. After that, I don't check temps as checking temps all the time takes away from my fun on the computer.

It is usually around 70 after doing some internet browsing checking my email and then rebooting and then rebooting/going to bios. It has shut down twice by itself, but both times I was doing the same thing, so I thought it was a problem with that program. It has been stable other than that though. Should I be worried?

70 C is too hot. Are you sure you mounted the heatsink properly?

70C?! Wow, I'm surprised your system isn't locking up all the time. Check your heatsink installation and make sure it's sitting flat and level on the CPU die. Recessed part of the heatsink should be over the raised part of the socket. Clip should be making contact with the heatsink directly over the CPU die. Are you using a thermal pad or thermal compound? How's your case cooling? Do you have any case fans installed?

I think the reading is wrong. I have 2 case fans in right now. I did use a thermal compound.

Where are you getting those reading from? The BIOS readings tend to be pretty accurate.
