I wouldn't think so if there's a metal (soldered?) ring around the screwholes on the motherboard already.
Remember that the idea behind all this is that you DON'T want to ground your board to the case. Let me know if you have any more questions and HTH. |

Yeah there is a metail ring around each of the bolt holes, so I guess I'll not use the insulators.
Thank you |

No. Don't use insulation in mounting your mobo. The "metal rings" around the mounting holes are indeed for grounding the mobo, but at the points / locations needed. There is a lot of Amps going thru a mobo and need a return for different circuits and such, these "rings" provide that path.
No, you do not want to ground your mobo anywhere else. TwoRails |

ok, everything post went fine. loaded fail-safe defaults, now got the desired one beep, IDE cdrom detected, IDE HDD detected, then Sil 3112ARaid Bios version 4.2.12 comes along and it says "Press ,Ctrl+S. or F4 to enter RAID utility." Problem is that my keyboard doesn't respond and it isn't until
"Primary Channel: Drive not found Secondary Channel: Drive not found_" and the cursor at the end of it just blinks!!! |

Insulators are they the round rubber washers that comes with a case. If so what will happen if I did use them can it hurt my system.

LkyOldSun: Sounds like you should be starting another thread on that, as it will draw more answers / responces. A lot of people may just stop after reading your first post.
Jsonpa: I guess that would depend on where you use/d them. If you are holding down your mobo with them, and it still works, you're probably got off OK. You may want to remove them... again, depending on where you used them.. TwoRails |

I used them on the screw holes itself on a ASUS P4PE-BP MOBO. To break it down more I used them on the corners, one near the PCI slots, one near the CPU and one near the AGP slot. I beleive the manual told me to do so. I will check my manual again to make sure.

Did the insulators come with the mobo, or the case? I've never seen insulators for an Asus mobo, but I only build AMD so I'm not familiar with your mobo.

The metal rings around the mounting holes are just to protect the motherboard PCB from getting damaged by the screws. Cricket
