W98 doesn't recognize 2nd HDD
I need some help. I installed a NEW second HDD as a secondary master. I have two CD drives as slaves. This worked with the OLD second HDD. the new HDD is recognized in BIOS after auto-detect and it shows up in Device Manager. But Windows Explorer, etc., do not see it. What idiotic thing did I do and how do I correct it?

Has it been partitioned and formatted?

It was something idiotic!
Thanks for the reminider. I formatted with EZBios, but I did not load EZBios to the C drive in order to access the new drive. Problem solved.

If your BIOS does not recognise the full capacity of your HDs, then you are better getting a BIOS update or using a PCI Controller card (www.promise.com) to solve the problem.
Drive Overlays like EZ-BIOS are not recommended and can cause "major" problems in the future. |

EZ Bios
Thanks for the heads up. This second HDD is mainly for storing temporary files, and its use is not critical.
