Is LG CD-RW any good?Lite-On?

I am buying a new CD-RW so:

1. How good CD writer is LG CD-RW 52/24X/52X (GCE-8520B) – in general and specially when it comes to burning different kind of protections? Is LG good choice if you want to burn protected files etc.?

2. Lite-On seems to be quite well liked: how does LG compare to Lite-On? Is LG as good as Lite-On or in what way does LG “loose” to Lite-On? What does LG lack or is there something very bad about LG in your mind?

3. Would you buy LG or Lite-On (52x models)? Why?

Thanks!

Both are good quality burners but I prefer the LiteOn 52x32x52x because of the higher rewrite speed (32x vs. 24x) and I believe it is cheaper too.

I only use LG writers in my builds. The 8520b is superb and where it has one over any other drive is the fact that it is the quietest of them all when reading/writing. Can read/write any protection the Liteon can. Superb tray mechanism.

I've had a marginally higher failure rate with the LG over the Liteon, so I use the Liteon's as a first choice in builds, the LG second if theres no stock on the Liteon.
