OCing not working
I just built my nice rig and I was working on ocing it. I have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe and P4 2.53 533FSB. The mobo lets you manually oc by increasing frequency ( but multiplier locked @ 19) or to select an OC Percentage (5,10,20,30). My Computer does alright for a while @ 10 and then it starts to flicker, but 20 freezes a game in about 2 minutes and at 30 the box doesn't boot at all. I'm testing the OCing using MOHAA Spearhead (just seeing if it works for a while).
I'm also trying to OC my Albatron GF4 TI4800 (read: Ti4400) using the slider scales on the advanced display properties (NVTWEAK?), but changing the settings on that doesnt' run very stable also. I've heard of people taking the GPU to TI4600+ speeds and mine barely runs without the default clock speeds. The 2.53 has been OCD to 3 GHZ Plus also. I have 4 case fans and a Swiftech MCX400 w/ 70mm Fan, so cooling is not a prob. I also have 1GB of PC2700 RAM. Also, Should I work on OCing the CPU or Graphics Card first? Thanks for any help, Matt |

on that board , it o/c's best with a cpu with a fsb of 800,
the ram you have may be your problem too, others are useing the kingston xp3500 type ram or the ocr 3700, have you flashed the bios to ver 1007 or 1008 yet, that also would help. I am useing the p4-2.4 800fsb , with kingston xp3500 and flashed the bios to ver. 1008. and is running at 3 gig solid as a rock. |

while people do get very good OCs with a FSB800 CPU, the main downer is that you cant run your RAM at synch, as even the fastest RAM will only sych to about 220-225.
but, a FSB533 CPU has a very long way to go before maxing even on DDR400 RAM, it will probably die if you pushed it that hard before you can burn RAM with it, which, in my opinion still makes the FSB533s the best OCers, for now anyway, when DDR600 and up RAM is out, ill say FSB800 is the best

alright so i might get an 800 later, but what's the best course of action now:
I've heard to increase voltage, I'll upg bios to 1008 and what about the GF4? MOHAA Flickers whenever i change the clock freqs and so do most other games - any suggestions? |
