Seagate SATA and Sony DVD RW funkness
Hi,
Building my first PC and having some wierdness when turning her on for the first time. My HDD is a ST3120026AS SATA, and the DVD is sony DRU-510a. It seems like there is no power at all to the DVD (no lights, no eject) no matter what I do. I know there is power to the box cause the fans are firing, etc. Im not hardware savy at all and am stumped as to what i am doing wrong... The HDD spins if I have the IDE cable for the DVD connected and the power for the DVD disconnected. If I connect power to the DVD and/or disconnect the DVD IDE cable, the HDD does not spin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Dont know if it matters but the MB is intel 865gbf with a 2.6 HT processor. BTW - 1024 posts for a custom avatar???? tardarsauce!!!! |

Welcome!
You could have a bad DVD drive. Have you tried different IDE cables? maybe even a different power lead... as for the custom avatar: stick around, the posts go fast! edit: dur, something stupid Last edited by scott_d; 07-11-2003 at 10:42 AM. |
