my new laptop
So I just bought a new laptop yesterday.
2200 Athlon XP 256mb pc2100 40gb hdd etc etc etc so I go to set everything up on it and I click on information about my computer...............it pops up and says that my comp is running at 1.05 ghz!@! it is supposed to be going 1.79ghz........I tried going into the BIOS but I have crappy BIOS and cant do anything from there. Any help guys????!?!@@! |

Were you testing the speed with the computer plugged into AC power? Most laptops clock themselves down when running on batteries in order to conserve power and extend battery life.

I picked up a HP laptop for a friend of mine and his says the same thing, I figured they either throttle the CPU down or a mobile processor runs at a lower speed.
