No sound when connecting a new CD Rom

G'day,

I have tried connecting my new CD Rom to my motherboard (with in-built sound). It accesses CD information (so it does work properly) but I can not hear any sound at all. It is an LG CD Rom, and my motherboard is an MSI k7. I have connected the power properly, does anyone know if the little white connector on the connection cord (it is only on one end of the cord between the CD Rom and motherboard) connect to the CD Rom or the motherboard. I can't find anywhere to connect it, and think this may be my problem

Check to see if your mobo has a connector to CDIN or similar, connect the wire (usually comes with the drive) from the drive to the mobo and the sound should start working.
