ok I have 2 x 256MB
PC2100 64x64 installed on a gigabyte ga-7vtxe+ but they only register 384mb together. When installed seperatley they register 256MB installed a PC2700 256MB strip with each one and low and behold 512MB can any one help Ta"seti@home cruncher since 24/04/03 and 110 wu crunched" |

Could be the 2 sticks are not compatible with one another.
Are they the same name brand?

Also, I believe your mobo has three Ram slots. Try putting one stick in Slot 1 and the other in Slot 3.

You might try some software like belarc or a memory program that looks at both sticks of memory and tells you what they are. It would not be the first time PC2700 was mislabled as PC2100.

thanks for your help had a look at belarc but it just said 256 nothing elese can u think of another program or a web site that i could look at`

sisoft's program called sandra also gives a bunch of sytem and best, it is free , search on google for sisoft sandra and you'll get it right at the top...
