I've been reading/hearing alot about how good this type of RAM is. What exactly is so different/special about it?

It also comes with heat sinks and it has a very low timing schedule.

They really seem to have stepped it up under new management. But considering their past (shady dealings, shoddy products, and horrid customer service) I know people that still shudder at the thought of buying their RAM.

i have just got some OCZ PC3200 Platinum Dual Channel EL RAM, and i tell you what, its some sexy RAM, if RAM could be sexy, mirror finish chromed spreaders, very tight timings as default and they can handle up to 2.8 vaults and still hold on to their warranty
