Installing the HDD

When I was putting it in I didnt realize that it should not go in all the way, and tryed to push it to the fron of the case. In doing this I scraped off some of the plastic sides a little. Do you think this will screw anything up in the future? Thanx.

If it is just a little bit of shavings, then no. The black plastic is just the casing. As long as the drive works fine don't worry.

Are newer hard drives using some kind of thermal plastic for the housing now? I haven't really looked at the newer hard drives, but I thought the housing was made of aluminum?

Oh, okay...been using mostly Western Digital and Maxtor the last year or so. Haven't touched a Seagate HDD in a couple of years but been thinking of trying them again.

Thanks for the info andyms18a.
