Are the master/Slave jumper settings standard on all HDDs?

Only on HDDs with parallel ATA. They're not needed anymore with Serial ATA.
But yes, all parallel ATA HDD have them. RJ

If you mean do the jumper settings on a Fujitsu match those on a Maxtor, or on an IBM, or any other drive, the answer is NO. Each manufacturer has their own way of jumpering drives.

Drive almost always have a little diagram right on them that show how to set the jumpers. If not, you can usually go to the manufacturer's website to find the diagram. |

And with Serial ATA replacing parallel ATA Master/Slave will be no more anyway. RJ |

If you are using 80 wire Ultra ATA cables, you will be using CS (Cable Select) instead of master/slave.

Just go to the harddrive manufacturers website and get the jumper settings. CS has been around for sometime but still depends whether or not the drive, cable and MOBO support it.
CS is not a given but an option. A good explanation can be foundhere |
