Angry Fire HD Question (s)

I've search on here...but can't find anyhting.

I changed the mother board on my system and now I am having problems with win XP Pro, it won't even let me into the desktop.

So, I am guessing that I have to whipe out the HD...how do I whipe out the HD with win XP installed?

Can I use the win 98SE boot up disk?

......OR is there anyway that I can install a different OS, so I can get into the desktop, have access to the HD and save all my files before formating it?

Can some one give me details on how to whipe out the HD...CLEAN!!

Boot from the XP CD and you can either wipe the hard drive there when the partitioning utility starts, or you can opt for a repair installation which should fix the problem.

So do I just go into the bios and disable all bootable drives except for the CD room?

Then do I just put in the CD, shut off system and reboot?

You can set the boot order in the BIOS to boot from CD first... put the CD in the drive and it will boot from there.

Yes, you can boot from CD frist on that board (done many builds with it)... there is definitely a section in the BIOS to set it to boot from CD first.

Even if you change the boot sequence some systems won't automatically boot off of the CD. You will have to press a key when you see a message telling you to boot off of the CD on the screen. Some systems don't display that message for very long.

Maybe so... but we got the best fans in the country and can pack a stadium better than any other province ... especially Alberta

Might be a small stadium... but when you can get 25% of your city's population to come out for a game, win or lose, then you can talk about the size of a stadium.

Is that an XP upgrade CD you have... there is no reason why you should have to go thru all this hassle as the full XP CD's are bootable.

yeah full version.

I couldn't get it to boot up from the CD. Now its all done I just need to create partitions and re-install the OS.

I am going to try using the disks from bootdisk.com and see if I can run fdisk...

Any other suggestions?

Does your bios see your CD Rom at all?

I agree, you absolutely should be able to boot from the CD. There are only a few reasons you wouldn't, including damage to the CD Rom disk, and an unconnected CD drive. If the bios doesn't give you boot from the CD as an option, my guess is that it doesn't see the CD. Have you ever been able to mount the CD drive?
