Audio CD Formats, incompatibility
I was just wondering what you guys thought about different cd writing programs, and how they differ in the writing process. My particular question is, if i make a cd out of mp3s, it won't play on my friends cd player he has at home. It's a combination cd dvd player, but it plays fine in his ps2, and fine in my car, but skips on the discman i have at work. I mean, isn't the writing programs, from Sony, to the one i have in my house all writing wav files and should be identical to the cd player? Or is there some differences in the way the programs write the disc? Is it at all bitrate related? Thanks for your imput.

Milght be a difference in the media or device themselves. I've found that reading problems of media in CD devices reminds me of reading problems in the old 5-1/4" floppies.

I've had the same problem, a cd would play everywhere except in my house's system. the audio system was old and I think it wasn't able to read the disc. try another brand of cds, it worked for me. as for the cd writing programs, I don't think they differ in the way they burn (except you can select disc at one, track at one... but they all do that)

sometimes it is the hardware implementing copyright protection and some devices just do not play cds made on computers.
