Boom Scanner makes PC start slow

When starting my PC with the USB from my scanner plugged in it takes my PC forever to start up. If I unplug this from the back it will run fine. I tried downloading new drivers and nothing seems to work..Help me...

I've always assumed this was normal? Same thing happens to me with either external hard drive, dig camera or scanner.
