Hi guys
quick question. I just bought an Abit IS7 mobo and a p4, 800, 2.4c chip. i want to overclock it. 2 questions. 1st, should i remove the tape from the back of the cpu fan and put artic silver instead or just leave it with the tape thing? 2nd, how good is the fan included with the 2.4c (Box, not OEM) for over clocking? i hear these chips can be pushed to a stable 3.2. ill be happy with 3.0 ![]() your respected inputs please! thx in advance Juke |

I would say take your pick on the thermo compound as the P4's run really cool. I have my 2.4C @ 3.1 and it's running around 29-33'C The retail fans are very good even for OC'ing. I hope to push mine a little higher once I get my PC3500 installed next week.

Agreed... go with the thermal pad... switch ot AS if heat becomes an issue.

I have been useing them as they come out of the box, and they have been running very cool even when overclocked to 3 g's
so stay with it that way, untill for some reason you remove the cpu to change it, then you must clean it all off and use artic silver |

I always like to use artic silver. It takes like 5 minutes to remove the tape and then another 2 to apply the paste, so i like using that.

Yes...if you remove the thermal tape and use Arctic Silver, you void your warranty.

I don't recall my P4 3GHz having thermal tape. Have they recently discontinued using it?
