Need advice on memory

Hi,

I need some advice on what memory to put in my build... I've got some ideas of what i want but I need some advice since I don't know a lot bout memory. I want to know if dual channel memory such as the corsair twinx512-2700 or ocz 333512ELDL will take two slots on my card or just one?

I also want to know what's the best mem, dual chan for 512 (2X512) or a simple corsair or ocz 512ddr slot?

Their prices in cdn$ are quite different, the ocz being the cheepest of the two(by 40 to 50$)... which one should I go with... and if you have advice on brand better for the buck or else I'd like to know too...

By the way I build on an Asus A7N8X DX Rev.2 - Barton 2800+ WD120G"JB" - Asus GF FX5800 128ddr - Viewsonic 19"
And the system is mainly for intense gaming.

Yes the TwinX or the OCZ memory will take up two RAM slots on the board since at least two modules are needed in order to run them in dual-channel mode. Corsair and OCZ are both great manufacturers so it really only comes down to price. I don't think you're getting anything better by spending more for the Corsair. You may also want to take a look at the Kingston HyperX series...it may be a little cheaper but I'm not sure. I'm not really sure what you mean by the second question.

Second question means... is it the same if I buy i single slot of 512mb... or dual chan really is way faster than a single one?

It's not way faster...only like a 5% increase in performance, but if you can go dual-channel then you should. If don't have the money for 2 512 sticks, then just get 2 256 MB sticks. 512 MBs of RAM is sufficient for mostly everything out there nowadays.
