Best speakers to buy in $100-150 and where to buy

My promedia 4.1 subwoofer is really making a racket the bass is too high I had to shut bass off completely. I shut down the bass on my pc and on my speakers. the warranty period is over but I love the speaker quality and would love to keep these speakers. What would be a good solution to replace them with If I can not find a cheap fix. If I just buy a different woofer could I use these speakers if the cable is compatible thanks for your help.

The Logitech Z series has received much praise, I'd recommend the Z560 or Z680.
