Asus P4S533 CMOS Battery Problem
I have a problem with my CMOS Battery. Here are my specs:
Asus P4S533 P4 2.53ghz 512mb DDR333 RAM Geforce 4 ti4600 DVD-Rom Plexwriter CD-RW Soundblaster Audigy Platinum Intel PCI NIC The problem is that the battery seems to die at an accelerated rate. A battery may last a month or two. When the battery dies, the computer will not power on at all. The computer will not power on with the battery removed. Replacing the battery with a fresh one immediately remedies the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this (if it even can be fixed)? |

As I am sure you know, most mobo batteries will last for years.
I suspect that there is an issue with your board, see if their is a BIOS update to remedy the problem, or if you still have warranty, RMA the mobo back as faulty and get a replacement. HTH

There is something very wrong here...the system should be able to start up and run without a motherboard battery installed. Check to see if there are any stray standoffs installed that shouldn't be...especially the area under the motherboard battery. If there are no stray standoff, RMA that motherboard.

Unfortunately the board is a bit too old to RMA. It's a little over a year old. It's very strange as I've never had anything remotely like this problem before.
