Hello Everyone,
I have 2 questions concerning a Toshiba Satellite 2535CDS notebook I'm trying clean up for a friend. I have the system restore disk and I have already restored the PC back to the factory conditions. There are 2 problems now. 1) Occasionaly, the mouse pointer will got directly to the last icon in a window. For example, when I open up the control panel in 98, the icon goes to the Users icon like I just chose it and I am unable to choose anything else. Any ideas? 2) During the factory restore and anytime I use the computer and especailly during startup, there is an extremely annoying beep sequence that can last from 5-15 seconds. I cannot figure out if this beep sequence is an error code or just an audio indicator of HDD Activity. I was able to turn down the volume on the laptop via its exterior volume control and at least I can't hear the beep anymore. Has anyone ever heard of Toshiba Laptops idicating HDD activity with a beep in addition to the standard LED HDD activity indicator? Okay, anything anyone can add would be greatly appeciated, thank you very much!!! easy11 |

Seeing as nobody has replied for a while I thought I'd try and lend a hand
![]() You should be able to tell whether the beep sequence is an error code or HDD activity by ear tbh, if it's an error code the beeps will be well spaced out, if it's the HDD activity it will be beeping like crazy I would think Try doing the usual thorough scan disk to scan for bad sectors on the hard drive and a defrag etc. Might be an idea to run Windows Update as well, there was a patch out a while ago to fix the problem you describe I believe, you might have to search in Windows Support or Windows Download Centre for that though HTH, Thanks, and sorry there wasn't a reply sooner

Hey thanks fatboyjim for the reply. The laptop is still beeping but not nearly as much. I loaded Win98SE onto it and that seems to have calmed it down. As far as the mouse issue, I think that was a residual hardware issue from when my friend spilled pop on the keyboard, shes going to take it back to the place that replaced the keyboard for that one. Again, thanks a bunch for the reply, I really appreciate your advice and help.
