Cant get past POST
Hi, hope somebody can help.
I have installed new board (Asrock K7S8XE) everytime I try to boot it goes just past POST and onto "Sorry for the inconvenience" thing. I tried all the options start normally/safe mode and so on, but keep going round in one loop and finishing at the same screen. I cant figure out why it keeps doing it, please help!!! I never heard of "Sorry for the Inconvenience" as an error message, but would I be correct to say your getting to where windows is trying to load and just won't???
Since it sounds like you are able to hit F8 and get the boot options menu it sounds like everything is hooked up OK. The problem is probably in the fact that U are trying to boot a windows XP installation that is still configured for your old hardware config. I would probably try a boot from the xp cd and do a repair installation. Not repair console, but U go in just like your doing a fresh install but it will detect the previous install and prompt U for a repair install, click yes and that should force windows to detect and load the drivers and such for the new hardware config....

Thanks for the response kt, I think you may have sorted it. But you mentioned to do a repair with XP disk, I dont have that option I can only reload.
Will this still work? Dont think the sorry thing is an error message as such, it fills the whole screen, here it is in full. We appoligise for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectically, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, chose "Last know good configuration" to revert to most recent settings. If a previous startup attempt was interupted due to a power failure or because the power reset button was pressed, or if you arent sure what caused the problem, "Choose start windows normally". Safe Mode Safe Mode with networking Safe Mode with command prompt Last known good configuration Start windows normally |

Yes, you boot from the XP CD and continue in just like you are going to load XP on a brand new PC. It will detect that there is already a current installation of XP on your harddrive and will give you two choices. 1 repair the current xp load
2. load a new install. Choose repair the current and that as I said should force it to load the drivers and such that it needs to work on that new MOBO, and that way you won't loose any of your programs, files, or settings. Some things may need reinstalled like your printer after it's all said and done though... |

I did a reload and opened a hole new can of worms, I still dont get windows loading, but this message.
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
